Mitosis — Cell Division

Description

Step-by-step visualization of mitosis showing all six major phases. Each phase is clearly labeled and the key cellular events are animated with colored chromosomes and nuclear envelopes.

Phases

# Phase Name Duration Description
1 Interphase 6s Normal cell with nucleus visible, DNA replication indicated
2 Prophase 6s Chromosomes condense and appear as distinct colored X shapes
3 Metaphase 6s Chromosomes align along the cell equator (metaphase plate)
4 Anaphase 6s Chromosome pairs pulled apart toward opposite poles by spindle fibers
5 Telophase 6s Two nuclei form, chromosomes begin to decondense
6 Cytokinesis 7s Cell pinches in the middle forming two identical daughter cells
7 Summary 5s Both daughter cells shown with label: "2 genetically identical cells"

Area Descriptions

  • Top: Phase label in large bold text
  • Center: Cell as a circle/ellipse with interior elements
  • Bottom: Short description of what is happening

Assets & Dependencies

  • Fonts: LaTeX / sans-serif
  • Manim version: ManimCE 0.19.1

Notes

  • Cell membrane: green circle, nucleus: blue circle
  • Chromosomes: bright magenta/purple X shapes
  • Spindle fibers: thin white/gray lines from poles
  • Each phase transition uses Transform or morph animation
  • Cytokinesis uses a cleavage furrow animation (circle morphing into figure-8 then two circles)
